| A BRIEF HISTORY | The Porsche 928 Introduced in 1977 as a '78 model, the 928 was designed to be a luxury GT car with a 4.5 liter V8, a transaxle layout for even weight balance, and significant use of Aluminum parts to keep weight somewhat in check. A fast, solid and comfortable ride awaited anyone who had the means -- it was expensive. Over the years the 928 became the 928S (4.7 L), then the 928S4 (5.0L), the 928GT, and finally the 928GTS (5.4L) before making way for the Boxster in 1995. Horsepower went from 177HP up to 350HP, and though some details were changed/improved, the same basic shape lasted for 18 years -- quite a long time! The car retains its distinctiveness even today...like it or not, nothing else really looks like it. |
| My Porsche 928 I have had my 1989 Porsche 928S4 for about three years now, and it has been my daily driver for about the last year an a half. I have been very pleased with it so far -- typical maintenance, and some minor restoration of the interior. I have posted pictures of it in the "Gallery" section, and can't wait to get behind the wheel again. |
